The US chapter of the Latif Kapadia Welfare Memorial Trust (LKMWT )was established in San Francisco USA by Aquila Aswat the daughter of the late Latif Kapadia. A fundraiser ceremony was held on August 14th at the which was attended by both friends and family.
The events began with a welcome address by the host and were followed by an interesting video featuring clips on Latif Kapadia and highlighting the objectives and achievements of the Medi Health Clinic. Friends including Bushra Ansari and Anwar Maqsood paid tribute over the phone in which they reminisced over their close friendship and his dedication to acting as well as helping others in their times of need. It was his philanthropic nature that initiated his son Ahmed Kapadia to open the clinic. Another close friend Mr.Shams also shared his experience of the years they spent together at the National Bank of Pakistan.
Annie Akhtar helped in the organization of the event and was the master of ceremony. A close friend, Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan photographed the event which ended with a musical performance by Riffat Sultana, daughter of Ustad Salamat Ali who entertained the audience with ghazals, Punjabi songs and qawallis.
